Our Inclusion Sundays, where we welcome ALL children regardless of abilities, partners with Volunteer Starkville to coordinate "shadows." Our shadows go with children with special needs to Children's Church and Sunday School so that they may fully participate.

Info. on Volunteer Starkville:

Volunteer Starkville is a 501(C)(3) Nonprofit Organization that was established as the volunteer center for Starkville and Oktibbeha County, MS in May of 2010. We are 1 of 8 volunteer centers in the state of Mississippi striving to increase volunteerism in our community and statewide. Originally established to serve Oktibbeha County, we now serve Clay, Oktibbeha and Winston Counties. As the community volunteer center, we serve as a clearing house for volunteerism in our service area, connecting local nonprofits and volunteers. Services we provide for nonprofits include assistance with volunteer recruitment, assistance with developing a volunteer program, and free volunteer management and other capacity building trainings, Services for volunteers include multiple free resources for finding ways to volunteer in the local community such as a weekly volunteer newsletter highlighting all ongoing volunteer opportunities and the next 2-3 weeks of date specific opportunities, an online search engine on GiveGab, a volunteer calendar, weekly newspaper ad, etc. We also meet with individuals and groups in person to help them find volunteer opportunities that best match their interests and skills. Lastly, we host community service projects on the following Days of Services: MLK, Jr. National Day of Service (January); National Volunteer Week (April); First Responders Appreciation Day (September); Make a Difference Day (October); and Family Volunteer Day (November).

We have a full time director, Jamey Bachman, who works along with an AmeriCorps VISTA Chad Walters and a part-time community work study student from MSU, Jane Ellen Crecink.

VS's FY 2015 Events Supported by Trinity Presbyterian Church:

Healthier You Summer Program & Camp (June & July 2015) -
Volunteer Starkville’s 2015 Healthier You Summer Program and Summer Camp provides children in grades K-6 from low-income families with an opportunity to learn more about health & nutrition, financial literacy, and safety throughout the summer. During our 2015 program we partnered with Brickfire Project to engage our target population. Through the program we strive to introduce participants to new ideas and information, reinforce the information they’ve already learned, and help prevent regression by keeping them in a classroom setting and using a wide variety of topics, including, math, writing, and history. We also strive to help the children participating stay active.
